The Annual Calendar, a watch that requires the setting of the time only once a year in February, has been around only since 1996. The Perpetual Calendar (needs setting every 100 years) by contrast, has been around since 1762. The annual calendar while trading a small amount of utility is orders of magnitude more stable and easier to maintain than its perpetual brethren. This Patek 5147 model takes many of its design cues from the first Patek Philippe Annual Calendar, the Ref: 5035 but adds to it a moon-phase indicator and power reserve. You might have also spied the factory set diamond bezel, which adds a bit of pizzaz to the ordinarily very unfussy Patek Philippe design.
