WHAT WE LOVE:
The Tudor Prince Oysterdate is one of the great sleeper classics in vintage watchmaking — and the ref. 75203 from the mid-1980s is among the most handsome configurations the model ever took.
The relationship between Tudor and Rolex runs deep. Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, established Tudor in 1926 as a way to produce Oyster-quality watches at a more accessible price point. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the two brands shared case architecture, bezels, crowns, and casebacks — and the Prince Oysterdate is the clearest expression of that relationship. The 75203 wears the same 34mm Oyster case as its Rolex contemporaries, fitted with the same solid gold fluted bezel and a Rolex-signed crown and Rolex-marked caseback. The Tudor shield on the linen dial is what sets it apart — and for those who know, it is precisely the point.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
The 75203 is powered by the ETA Calibre 2824-2 — a 25-jewel automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. Tudor modified and regulated these movements to their own specification, and the 2824-2 has since proven itself one of the most robust and serviceable calibres in Swiss watchmaking history.
