WHAT WE LOVE:

The blue variant of the Mido Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer makes a compelling case for why colour matters in a watch. Where the black version is sharp and authoritative, the blue is warmer, more inviting, and — on the wrist — more versatile across a wider range of everyday wear contexts. The dial and strap work together as a considered composition, and the result is one of the most characterful watches at this price point.

The design story is the same as its black counterpart: Mido reviving its own 1960s Ocean Star Decompression Timer heritage and adding a contemporary GMT complication to produce something that is simultaneously rooted in dive watch history and genuinely practical for modern travel. The difference in the blue version is the mood. The blue base dial brings a warmth and depth to the layered decompression scale and world city markings that changes the character of the watch significantly — it reads as more adventurous and less tactical than the black, and the GMT hand cuts through the dial with the same confident legibility while feeling slightly more at home in a casual or travel context.

The bidirectional rotating bezel carries the full 24-hour world city scale, allowing any of the world's major time zones to be read instantly against the red GMT hand. The concentric decompression reference scale — directly inherited from the 1960s original — occupies the inner portion of the dial, where it provides both functional reference for divers and visual texture for everyone else.

WHAT’S INSIDE:

The M026.829.17.051.00 is powered by the Mido Calibre C07.661 — Mido's designation for the ETA Powermatic 80, featuring an anti-magnetic Nivachron™ balance spring and delivering an 80-hour power reserve across 21 jewels at 21,600 vibrations per hour. The GMT complication is driven by an additional 24-hour hand that completes one full revolution per day, readable against the world city bezel scale for instant second time zone identification.
