Many of us welcome the return of fashionably smaller watches, with the current sweet spot being around 36-39mm wearing great for the majority of wrists. However, certain watches were designed large for a specific reason, with 'Flieger' or Pilot watches often being oversized for legibility and utility reasons, with Breitling's iconic Navitimer featuring a minaturised rotating slide rule, used for complex computations before the age of calculators.

At 46mm in diameter, and with the added heft of a chronograph complication inside, the Navitimer might not be to everyone's taste, but it is the most authentic watch in current production born in the 'Golden era of aviation' of the 1950's and 60's.
