The Zenith Defy Classic was introduced at Baselworld 2018 as the accessible entry point into the Defy collection — a watch that takes the architectural language of the Defy range and delivers it in a 41mm case with a manufacture automatic movement at a price that makes the Defy aesthetic genuinely available. The titanium 95.9000.670/78.R782 is the specific configuration that has collected the most sustained collector attention: the brushed titanium case with its sharp angular facets, the skeletonised dial revealing the Elite 670 movement beneath, and the deep navy blue chapter ring that provides the exact shade of blue Zenith used in the 1969 El Primero as a deliberate historical reference.

The open-worked dial is the centrepiece — five stylised branches representing Zenith's star symbol create the movement-visible architecture, with the faceted applied baton hour markers sitting at the outer edge against the blue chapter ring. The slim star-counterweight seconds hand sweeps across the movement visible beneath. The cut-out date disc at 6 o'clock, readable against a white dot, is the single complication on what is otherwise a beautifully resolved three-hand skeleton dial. The 95.9000.670/78.R782 is powered by the Zenith Calibre Elite 670 SK — the skeletonised variant of the Elite 670, Zenith's longstanding manufacture automatic base calibre, here fitted with a silicon pallet lever and escape wheel for the first time. 27 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, approximately 50-hour power reserve. The silicon components — visible through the openworked movement — improve the escapement's magnetic resistance and reduce lubrication requirements. The sapphire exhibition caseback displays the movement from the reverse. Water resistance is rated to 100 metres.
