WHAT WE LOVE:
Historically Tudor would source their movements from outside parties, this was in contrast to their parent company Rolex who would have movements developed solely for their use. Tudor would use movements from brands like Valjoux or ETA, in large part to help differentiate the offerings from each brand (Rolex vs. Tudor). This convention remained constant through to the mid-2010s even after the introduction of the two models that would put Tudor back on the map, the Pelagos and Black Bay.
When Tudor developed their first inhouse movement released in 2016, this convention began to rapidly erode. There are a few models that have straddled this era, introduced with ETA movements that were then replaced with in-house calibres as they became available. One of the most iconic and collectable examples of this switch is in the first-generation Pelagos we see here, outwardly the only difference is the two lines of text below the handstack on this ETA model versus the five lines of text found on the inhouse models.
These models are loved by collectors for their more restrained approach to dial text and also the eminently more easily serviceable ETA movement ticking away inside.
This watch also comes with an additional rubber strap.
