WHAT WE LOVE:
The CV2113 is the sweet spot in the heritage Carrera range — a direct descendant of the original Carrera 2447 from 1963, reissued in 2005 at 39mm with an automatic movement and a domed sapphire box crystal that gives the watch its most distinguishing visual characteristic. The original Carrera 2447 carried a hesalite crystal with a pronounced dome that gave the dial a magnified, distorted quality that modern flat sapphire crystals cannot replicate. TAG Heuer's solution in the CV2113 was to specify a domed sapphire box crystal that recreates that optical effect — the dial appears slightly elevated, the sub-registers appear to recede slightly, and the whole composition has a depth that the flat-crystal Calibre 16 Day-Date we also carry cannot approach.
The black dial on the CV2113 is the most resolved of the two dial options. The three silver-ringed "Daytona registers" — 30-minute at 9, 60-second at 3, and 12-hour at 6, each with their own graduated scale — sit against the black ground with immediate contrast. The faceted indices and the "automatic" text at lower centre, in the same font as the original 1963 references, are the details that distinguish this from any contemporary chronograph. The diamond-polished angled lugs, the absence of a date window, and the 39mm case size — small by current standards, absolutely correct for the era being referenced. Coming with its original box and papers from 2008.
WHAT'S INSIDE:
The CV2113-0 is powered by TAG Heuer's Calibre 17 — a designation for the ETA 2894-2 automatic chronograph movement, 25 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, approximately 42-hour power reserve.
