WHAT WE LOVE:
The Heuer Camaro is one of the great underappreciated chronographs of the 1960s — and the 7743NT is the most visually compelling variant in the range. Named after the Chevrolet muscle car that defined an era, the Camaro occupies a distinctive position in vintage Heuer collecting: less famous than the Carrera, less celebrated than the Autavia, but increasingly recognised for exactly what it is — an exceptionally well-designed, beautifully cased manual-wind chronograph from one of the most important periods in Heuer's history.
The cushion-shaped case is the Camaro's defining feature. At 37mm it reads larger than its stated diameter suggests — the four curved, almost pillow-like facets of the case front, combined with the integrated stepped lugs and the prominent radial-finished bezel, create a visual presence that conventional round cases of the same diameter never achieve. The starburst finishing on the case front catches light with a warmth that polished or brushed steel cannot replicate, and the ridged chronograph pushers and Heuer-signed crown complete an object of genuine design confidence.
The 7743NT designation tells you exactly what is on the dial: N for Noir — charcoal throughout, dial and both sub-dials — and T for Tachymeter — the speed calculation scale running around the outer edge of the dial. The mono-chromatic charcoal-on-charcoal composition gives this variant a stealth quality that the white dial variants never carry. Against the tachymeter track and the slightly recessed sub-dials with their outer gloss ring and textured concentric circle pattern, the overall effect is both sophisticated and purposeful. The hour markers and hands have aged with patina over time that adds character without compromising legibility.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
The 7743NT is powered by the Valjoux Calibre 7730 — a 17-jewel manual-wind two-register chronograph movement.
