The 556A is the Arabic numeral variant of the 556 range — numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock rather than the baton indices of the 556i, which gives it a slightly more animated, explorer-adjacent character without departing from the range's fundamental minimalism. The matte black dial is finished to a standard that most watches at this price point cannot match: no reflection, no gloss, just a deep, even surface against which the bright white numerals, markers, and sword hands read with exceptional clarity. The "Automatik" script printed at the base of the dial and "Sinn" at the top are the only text — everything else is instrument, not decoration.

The 38.5mm fully satinised stainless steel case is the physical expression of that philosophy. No polished surfaces, no mixed finishing — just a consistent brushed satin that eliminates glare and gives the watch a purposeful, tool-oriented character regardless of the context it is worn in. The drilled lug holes — a practical detail carried over from Sinn's pilot and military watch heritage — allow strap changes with standard spring bars without the risk of marring the case. The signed screw-down crown provides meaningful water resistance, and the exhibition sapphire caseback reveals the movement with the same matter-of-fact confidence as the rest of the watch. The 556A is powered by the Sellita SW200-1 — a 26-jewel Swiss automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a power reserve of 38 hours. Sinn fits their own signed rotor to the SW200-1 and regulates the movement to their own specification before it leaves Frankfurt.
