WHAT WE LOVE:
1995 was a big year for Sinn, having recently changed hands from Helmut Sinn, the company's founder, to Lothar Schmidt, an engineer who would take the iconic tool watch brand to new heights. From here on out, the company would pioneer countless technologies over the years and create some of the toughest watches on the planet. Coming from this era is perhaps the ultimate mechanical pilot's watch, the Sinn 157: the 'Bundeswehrchronograph'.
The 157 we have here is one of the later versions of the watch's production run, featuring both a tachymeter and pulsometer chapter ring and a more pronounced 'jet tip' 60-minute chronograph hand. Featuring the vaunted Lemania 5100 Automatic Chronograph movement, this watch is remarkably easy to read despite the significant amount of information displayed on the dial. The dial has tritium lume that still glows strong, and unlike modern SuperLuminova, it slowly ages to a lovely cream colour, faintly visible on the main minute hand.
Running well and feeling very solidly built, this 157 is ready to take to the skies once more. Verspüren sie das bedürfnis nach geschwindigkeit?
