WHAT WE LOVE:
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer SRQ035 is a striking limited edition of just 1,000 pieces, inspired by Seiko’s 1964 stopwatch created for the Tokyo Olympic Games. It channels the purity of precision timing instruments, blending heritage with a distinctly modern execution that feels both purposeful and refined.
Its crisp white dial stands apart within the Prospex line, designed with absolute clarity in mind. Black printed tracks create a bold contrast, with intricate markings that prioritise elapsed time measurement over conventional time reading. A detailed seconds track with quarter second increments, subtle luminous dot hour markers, baton indices, Arabic numerals for tenth minutes, and pronounced square markers for full seconds all contribute to its technical character. The clean sub dials and baton hands with elongated counterweights enhance legibility, while the black angled inner flange with tachymeter scale adds depth and sportiness.
The stainless steel case with super hard coating measures 42.5 mm, offering a strong yet balanced presence. Its sharp lines, brushed surfaces, and polished accents evoke a refined 1960s aesthetic, complemented by oversized pump pushers, a three fold clasp with push button release, and 10 bar water resistance, making it as capable as it is collectible.
WHAT'S INSIDE:
Powering the watch is the Seiko calibre 8R46 automatic chronograph movement with manual winding, offering a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. It features a column wheel and vertical clutch architecture for precise chronograph operation, runs with 34 jewels, and delivers a daily precision of +25 to -15 seconds, along with small seconds and stop second hand functionality.
