WHAT WE LOVE:
Experience the unique charm of the Seiko Double Hurricane, a rare gem from Seiko’s esteemed 5100 range. Produced between 1969 and 1971 exclusively for the Japanese domestic market.
The Double Hurricane earns its nickname from its innovative dual-bezel design: an external rotating bezel paired with an internal chequered bezel that is adjusted via the crown. This 1969 model is an automatic winding watch with a 23-jewel, 19,800 bph movement and a day-date complication, offering a blend of functionality and historical significance. The quickset mechanism, with its unique layered spring-driven components, adds a touch of mechanical sophistication.
As part of the second wave of Seiko 5 Sports models, this watch reflects Seiko's early contributions to the range with its distinctive zigzag emblem, marking it as a product of the Daini division. While Seiko has recently re-released a tribute to this popular model, owning the original is a rare opportunity. This well-preserved piece represents a piece of horological history and a timeless design that stands out even today.
