WHAT WE LOVE:
One thing that brands struggle with after becoming ubiquitous is appealing to 'the kids'. The youth of Japan in the 1970s and 1980s had a low opinion of Seiko because it was the brand their parents wore, and therefore, couldn't possibly be cool.
Seiko did what any brand in their position would do, and pandered, they pandered by taking the Seiko name away and introducing Tomony, Alba, and the fabulously named 'School Time' brands. The relative rarity of these models stems from their being worn mainly by school children and that they were mechanical, so they might not have been especially well looked after. Secondly, it appears that this pandering was sniffed out by the kids
This example has been recently serviced and presents in a well-kept condition. The Jump Hour 'Digital' display and colour scheme make for a very unique and cool vintage watch.
