WHAT WE LOVE:
The 126610LV "Starbucks" is the third chapter in one of watchmaking's most celebrated colour stories — and the most technically accomplished version of the green Submariner that Rolex has ever produced.
The green bezel Submariner lineage began in 2003 with the "Kermit" ref. 16610LV, launched to mark the model's 50th anniversary. It continued with the "Hulk" 116610LV in 2010 — a full green bezel and green dial combination that generated extraordinary demand throughout its decade of production. When Rolex retired the Hulk in 2020 and replaced it with the 126610LV, the move was immediately polarising and then immediately understood: the new watch paired the green ceramic bezel with a classic black lacquer dial, creating a contrast that the collector community quickly named "Starbucks" for its resemblance to the green-on-black Starbucks logo. A 2024 example is the MK2 variant, featuring a subtly updated green hue on the Cerachrom bezel and refined dial printing — the details that distinguish production years for collectors who track such things.
The 41mm case is the Submariner at its most refined. The move from 40mm to 41mm in 2020 was accompanied by a meaningful redesign: the lugs were slimmed significantly, producing a case that, despite being technically larger, wears with a more elegant, less imposing presence than the "Maxi Case" Super Case generation it replaced. The green Cerachrom bezel carries its 60-minute timing scale with platinum PVD markers that will not fade under UV exposure, and the applied hour markers and Mercedes hands carry Chromalight lume that glows a distinctive long-lasting blue in darkness. This is a watch with a genuine story, genuine technical substance, and a colour combination that has already proven its staying power across five years of continuous production.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
The 126610LV is powered by Rolex's Calibre 3235 — the movement that represents the current pinnacle of Rolex's in-house automatic development. Introduced in 2016, the 3235 brought the Chronergy escapement — a high-efficiency geometry that improves energy transmission by 15% over a conventional Swiss lever escapement — alongside a 70-hour power reserve from a single mainspring barrel, the Paraflex shock absorber system, and the blue Parachrom hairspring for magnetic resistance and temperature stability.
