I always get a sick thrill from advertising solid gold Rolex watches for less than the price of a brand new Oyster Perpetual. Is it good value? Yes. Do I need to get out more? Also yes.

Nicknamed the Bubble Back by English collectors and Ovetto by Italian collectors it was the Rolex model to collect in the 1980s and 1990s but was eclipsed by the popularity of Rolex Sports models in the most recent decades.

This example is in lovely condition and was presented in 1935 by the Wellcome Research Institution to distinguished English Protozoologist Charles Morley Wenyon.
