WHAT WE LOVE:
Rado has been making high-tech ceramic watches longer than almost anyone else in the industry — and the Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Diver is the point at which that material expertise meets the brand's most iconic design.
The R32144202 uses plasma high-tech ceramic for the case and bracelet. The result is a case that reads as distinctly metallic from certain angles while remaining entirely ceramic in its hardness, scratch resistance, and low weight. Against the sunray blue lacquered dial — which shifts from deep navy to a softer mid-blue as light moves across it — the plasma case creates a contrast that is simultaneously sophisticated and unexpected.
The polished stainless steel bezel insert provides a moment of conventional metallic brightness against the matte plasma body. The overall proportions at 43mm are bold without being overwhelming, with the case being waterproof to 300m. This is a watch built to the full specification of a professional diver's instrument, in a material that most of the dive watch category hasn't caught up with yet.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
The R32144202 is powered by the Rado Calibre R763 — the brand's designation for the ETA Powermatic 80, beating at 21,600 vibrations per hour across 25 jewels with a power reserve of 80 hours.
