WHAT WE LOVE:
The Queen Elizabeth 2, often abbreviated as QE2, was a famous British ocean liner that sailed as a transatlantic and cruise ship from 1969 to 2008. Operated by the Cunard Line, the QE2 was named after the first Queen Elizabeth ship, which was in service from 1938 to 1948, and it was the successor to the RMS Queen Mary. The QE2 was built at the John Brown Shipyard in Clydebank, Scotland, and was launched by Queen Elizabeth II on September 20, 1967.
During her 39 years of service, the QE2 completed more than 1,400 voyages, including 25 world cruises, and traveled over 6 million miles. The ship played a role in the Falklands War in 1982, when it was requisitioned by the British government and converted into a troop carrier to transport military personnel.
This clock was one that could be bought on board one of her cruises and is now an interesting collectable.
