The Speedmaster 38 was developed to bring the Moonwatch's design language to a 38mm case without diminishing what makes it compelling. The oval sub-dials, the tachymeter bezel, the Speedmaster proportions — all present, scaled precisely to 38mm in a way that wears entirely differently from the Moonwatch's 42mm. At this size it sits closer, lighter, and with a more intimate relationship to the wrist, and in full 18K yellow gold the weight feels appropriate rather than excessive — solid, purposeful, warm.
The combination of gold and green is the detail that elevates this reference into something genuinely distinctive. The green aluminium tachymeter ring is the first thing you see; it frames the opaline silvery dial with an energy that yellow gold and silver alone could never generate. Inside, the horizontal oval sub-dials carry the hours, minutes, and running seconds in a layout that borrows from the Moonwatch's architecture while adapting it to the 38mm format with notable elegance. The 18K yellow gold hands are varnished in green, a detail visible only at close range, and one that rewards that attention.

The column-wheel architecture ensures precise, tactile engagement of the chronograph function, and the Co-Axial escapement — developed by George Daniels and refined by Omega — reduces friction in the escapement and extends the interval between services significantly compared to conventional lever escapements.
