At 40mm it is more compact than the Moonwatch's 42mm, it winds automatically from wrist movement rather than requiring manual daily winding, and its COSC chronometer-certified movement delivers greater daily accuracy than the Calibre 1861. For the person who loves the Speedmaster aesthetic but prioritises everyday wearability over heritage purity, the Speedmaster Date has always been the more practical answer.
The grey and black dial configuration of the 323.30.40.40.06.001 is the most versatile in the Speedmaster Date range — the grey ground with its applied stick markers and three black sub-registers at 9, 12, and 6 o'clock creates a dial that reads as sport-serious in bright light and quietly sophisticated in lower light, the red "Speedmaster" script the single accent in an otherwise monochrome palette. The date window between 4 and 5 o'clock is integrated without a Cyclops lens — a decision that keeps the dial flatter and maintains the Speedmaster's angular, uncluttered character. The 323.30.40.40.06.001 is powered by Omega's Calibre 3304 — a Swiss automatic chronograph movement with COSC chronometer certification, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour. The Calibre 3304 is based on the ETA 7753 with Omega modifications, providing three-register automatic chronograph function plus date display between 4 and 5 o'clock. Sapphire exhibition caseback. Water resistance is 100 metres. The fixed black bezel carries the tachymeter scale in the Speedmaster tradition.
