The Doxa SUB 1000T Professional is one of the great modern limited editions in dive watch collecting — and the black PVD case variant is the most visually compelling configuration in the run. Where the standard brushed steel version is bold, the PVD case takes the same watch and turns the contrast between the matte black case and the vivid orange Professional dial into something genuinely arresting. This is the Doxa orange at its most dramatic.
The story behind the orange dial goes back to 1967, when Doxa launched the original SUB 300 with the finding that orange provides the greatest visibility and contrast underwater. It was a functional decision made by divers, not a styling exercise — and every Professional-dialled Doxa since carries that heritage directly. On a black PVD case, that heritage reads with particular force: the orange is vivid, immediate, and impossible to miss. The patented no-decompression limit bezel — a Doxa innovation from the same era, engraved with the US Navy's maximum no-decompression times — is a functional reference that no other production dive watch carries, and it connects this modern re-edition directly to the professional diving credentials that Doxa built its reputation on.
The replica 1969 hands — Doxa's distinctive "dwarf" hour hand with SuperLuminova fill — and the cushion-shaped 42.7mm case are faithful to the original SUB 1000T architecture in every dimension. The caseback is engraved with the individual edition number 1074/5000 and the Doxa "Jenny Fish" wave logo, and the watch ships in Doxa's celebrated aluminium scuba bottle presentation — one of the most distinctive packaging solutions in the industry and one that has become a collector's object in its own right.
