WHAT WE LOVE:
Developed in the ateliers Dior Horlogerie in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the Dior VIII is the watch as jewellery object: a piece in which watchmaking precision and haute couture ornamentation exist in genuine equilibrium.
The black high-tech ceramic is polished to a depth and light absorption that no lacquered metal surface achieves. It provides the background against which the bezel's 56 diamonds read with absolute clarity. The bezel design is the watch's defining architectural feature: alternating black ceramic pyramid facets separated by diamond-set panels, the diamonds grouped in square clusters of four or five that catch light from every angle.
The black lacquered dial carries diamond-point applied indices and the "VIII" Roman numeral at the 8 o'clock position — Christian Dior's own lucky number — alongside the small seconds ring at the centre. The "VIII place Vendôme" engraving on the movement, visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback, positions this watch within the lineage of Dior's Vendôme address: the epicentre of Parisian luxury since Dior's own era.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
The CD1235E0 is powered by a self-winding automatic movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 40-hour power reserve, developed for Dior Horlogerie at their La Chaux-de-Fonds manufacture.
