Seiko - 2016 Seiko x SOTTSASS SCEB035 Limited Edition

WHAT WE LOVE:

Seiko loves to collaborate and they seem particularly drawn to Italian designers like Giorgetto Giugiaro and Ettore Sottsass. Sottsass was a founding member of the influential Memphis Group and his designs are still be hailed as some of the most important of post-war Italian design.

This JDM Seiko model is a modern reinterpretation of the watches that Sottsass designed originally in the early 1990's. Given 'the freedom of a tight brief' Sottsass was able to do whatever he wanted, as long it was confined to the hands, dial and crystal and this was his canvas. He sought to incorporate the crystal fully into the dial, by creating a layered effect to the dial with the tachymetre and indices as part of the crystal.

Because this most recent release was limited to the Japanese Market, we don't see many Sottsass Seiko models around and so it's our pleasure to bring this curious fusion of Italian and Japanese design to the market.
