Seiko - 1970 6139 Chronograph 'Golden Pogue'

WHAT WE LOVE:

In 1966, NASA selected William Pogue as an astronaut. His most notable space mission was Skylab 4, which was the third and final manned mission to the Skylab space station. During this 84-day mission in 1973-74, Pogue served as the pilot and participated in numerous scientific experiments and observations. Interestingly, Pogue and his crewmates performed the first spacewalks while not being tethered to the spacecraft, thanks to a newly developed handheld maneuvering unit.

Unbeknownst to his NASA Superiors, Pogue had taken on board this Skylab mission a brightly coloured Seiko watch that he'd used throughout pre-flight training and felt more familiar with compared to his NASA issued Omega Speedmaster.
