Alongside the 5513 and 1675, the Rolex Explorer 1016 was a workhorse in the Rolex Catalogue over decades, with small tweaks made from time to time rather than a radical design overhaul. These 1016 Explorers are easily amongst the most popular vintage Rolex References. This 1016 dates originally to 1974 and spent its life here in New Zealand, the original dial and hands were replaced with a Matte Luminova Service dial in an RSC overhaul approximately 15 years ago. The case, movement and bracelet are original and in remarkably good condition for the watches advanced years. Recently overhauled by an independent watchmaker and verified for authenticity.
