It was here in 1860 that Giovanni Panerai opened a watch shop and watchmaking centre, on the Ponte alle Grazie bridge that crossed the River Arno. From here, the Panerai brand was born, first becoming designers for military-issued timing devices, then pivoting to a high-end luxury watch brand. The rest, as they say, is history.
