WHAT WE LOVE:
The Seiko 6306-7001 "Scubapro 450" is a rare and highly sought-after dive watch that holds a special place in Seiko’s rich diving heritage. Produced in the late 1970s, this model is a variant of the Seiko 6306-7000, but what sets it apart is the Scubapro 450 branding on the dial, indicating its association with Scubapro, a renowned diving equipment manufacturer.
Encased in a rugged 44mm stainless steel case, the 6306-7001 features Seiko’s signature cushion-shaped design, which provides both durability and comfort on the wrist. The matte black dial is built for maximum legibility, with bold luminescent hour markers and thick hands, ensuring excellent underwater readability. The day-date complication at 3 o’clock, typically displayed in both English and Kanji, adds a functional touch.
The watch is fitted with a unidirectional rotating bezel, allowing precise dive timing, and a screw-down crown, contributing to its impressive 150-meter water resistance. The case back features Seiko’s signature Tsunami logo, a hallmark of the brand’s professional dive watches.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
At its heart, the watch is powered by the Seiko Caliber 6306A, a high-beat automatic movement with hacking seconds, which was a step up from the more common Caliber 6309 found in other Seiko divers of the era. This 21-jewel movement ensures smooth operation and reliable timekeeping, making it a dependable choice for professional and recreational divers alike.
