WHAT WE LOVE:
The Lemania Chronograph Ref. 0552/924-3306, is a rare and rugged military-issued chronograph, created under contract for the British Royal Navy. Issued during the 1970s, these timepieces were purpose-built for functionality and durability — and are now highly regarded among military watch collectors.
The tonneau-shaped stainless steel case measures approximately 40mm, with fixed bars for added strength and security — a hallmark of true military-spec watches. The matte black dial is all business: luminous Arabic numerals, a running seconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock, and a 30-minute chronograph register at 3. The luminous hands and minimal branding make it exceptionally legible under all conditions. As the fonts are slightly fatter it looks to have been restored.
Issued under the British Ministry of Defence (MoD), this watch is engraved with the correct military designation “0552/924-3306” on the caseback — with “0552” denoting Royal Navy property and the accompanying broad arrow and issue numbers adding provenance and authenticity.
WHAT'S INSIDE:
Inside is the Lemania Caliber 1872 — a manual-winding, cam-actuated chronograph movement based on the Omega Caliber 861 platform (used in Speedmasters of the same era). It’s known for its reliability, robust construction, and clean serviceability. The movement features a 60-second sweep chronograph hand, 30-minute totaliser, and hacking seconds — ideal for precision timing in the field.
