WHAT WE LOVE:
The Omega Seamaster 200M Pre-Bond is one of those watches that existed in near-obscurity for decades before collectors finally caught up with it — and now that they have, it occupies a genuinely interesting position in the market. Produced between 1988 and the mid-1990s, it is the direct predecessor to the Seamaster 300M that became famous in GoldenEye (1995), and it shares more than a passing resemblance to the watch that made Omega's partnership with James Bond possible.
The 2850.50 is the quartz mid-size configuration — 36mm excluding the crown — and it is the reference that most closely mirrors the everyday wearability the Pre-Bond was designed around. The integrated bracelet — unique to this model, with a deployment and wetsuit extension — flows directly from the case without visible interruption, giving it a bracelet watch character that feels entirely natural. The sword service hands, the hour markers, and the black dial are all direct precursors to the design language that Omega would refine into the GoldenEye Seamaster just months later.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
The 2850.50 is powered by Omega's Calibre 1443 — an ETA 255.561-based quartz movement with end-of-battery-life indication, delivering outstanding accuracy and long-term reliability with minimal maintenance requirements. The quartz specification was standard across the Professional-marked variants of the Pre-Bond and reflects Omega's understanding that a watch worn by divers and active users needed the precision and consistency that mechanical movements of the era could not match underwater.
