Produced between 1988 and the mid-1990s, it is the direct predecessor to the Seamaster 300M that became famous in GoldenEye (1995), and it shares more than a passing resemblance to the watch that made Omega's partnership with James Bond possible.

The 2850.50 is the quartz mid-size configuration — 36mm excluding the crown — and it is the reference that most closely mirrors the everyday wearability the Pre-Bond was designed around. The integrated bracelet — unique to this model, with a deployment and wetsuit extension — flows directly from the case without visible interruption, giving it a bracelet watch character that feels entirely natural. The sword service hands, the hour markers, and the black dial are all direct precursors to the design language that Omega would refine into the GoldenEye Seamaster just months later.
