WHAT WE LOVE:
The Omega Seamaster Cal. 268 ‘Seachero’ is a rare and charismatic piece that has become a quiet favorite among vintage Omega collectors. Nicknamed "Seachero" by enthusiasts, a blend of Seamaster and Ranchero, this reference captures the tool watch simplicity of the Ranchero series while retaining the refined elegance of the Seamaster line, all powered by the mechanical charm of a 1960s hand-wound caliber.
This particular example features a 40 micron gold plated brass case in new old stock (NOS) condition, measuring 34.5mm with elegant lugs and a thin polished bezel. The case is a genuine Omega replacement that matches the original reference number of the worn case it replaced. It remains unworn and even retains its original Omega sticker on the caseback.
The dial has been professionally restored, preserving the iconic Seachero layout with Arabic numerals at 12, 2, 4, 8, and 10, dagger indices, and a sub-seconds register. The watch is fitted with new hands that complement the period design, and a new genuine Omega crown.
A standout example of mid-century Omega design, this piece offers the aesthetics of a vintage classic with the presentation of a near new watch, an excellent addition to any serious collection.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
Powering the watch is the Omega Caliber 268, one of the finest hand-wound movements from Omega’s revered 30mm series. This 17-jewel manual-wind movement beats at 18,000 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of approximately 45 hours. Finished with traditional rose gold plating and often Geneva stripes, it’s praised for its reliability, serviceability, and classic engineering.
