WHAT WE LOVE:
Six decades from the release of the original Oris Diver, the team has brought the Divers Date 2024 series, echoing its original voice in a modern vessel. Oris has highlighted their new diver has been redesigned and upgraded but with a familiar mission to "make people smile", and they have done just that. There is something so beautiful about the dial that I can't quite put my finger on. The combination of subtle but sensitively crafted aspects work together simply and slickly, redesigning the Divers Sixty-Five to suit a modern audience.
Technically, some differences include a smaller case width (39mm as opposed to the original 40mm), a slimmer height and lug to lug, a re-engineered unidirectional rotating bezel, a smoother screw-down crown and a wider bezel. Although these changes may seem small, the significance lies in its handling, ultimately improving the way the watch wears and looks on the wrist, make especially clear through the smaller width and larger bezel. The newly domed sapphire crystal, anti-corrosive stainless steel case and 200m water resistance has beefed up this watch to embody the name of a diver. The date at 6 O'clock works well with the symmetry of the watch, and has a different feel to each colour, but suits them accordingly.
The series comes in either a soft brown, black or steel blue (this one) dial colour and packs a full set with a stainless steel bracelet and black rubber strap.
