WHAT WE LOVE:

The Yema Superman has been a French dive watch icon since 1963 — a watch built for professional divers with one engineering detail that distinguished it immediately from every other diver on the market: the external bezel lock at 3 o'clock, which prevents the timing bezel from rotating accidentally underwater. The Superman Heritage GMT Bronze takes that sixty-year foundation and adds two things to it: a GMT complication for the first time in the Superman's history, and a bronze case that guarantees every example will become a unique object over time.

"Degraded" in Yema's terminology describes a gradient dial — in this case a green that deepens from a lighter tone at the centre toward a richer, more saturated green toward the outer edge, creating a dial that reads differently depending on the angle and the ambient light. Against the natural warm tone of a vertically brushed bronze case, the green sits with a warmth and an organic quality that no steel-cased equivalent can replicate. The bronze bezel carries an engraved GMT scale — also in bronze finish — and the combination of the three bronze elements (case, bezel, crown) against the green dial is one of the most considered colour compositions in contemporary French watchmaking.

The external bezel lock — the signature mechanism at 3 o'clock that has defined the Superman since its introduction — functions in this GMT configuration to lock both the bezel and the crown simultaneously when engaged, preventing any accidental bezel rotation or crown operation in the water. The double-domed 2.6mm sapphire crystal adds genuine vintage optical character, creating the refractive distortions at angles that thin flat crystals cannot produce. Limited to 1,948 pieces — Yema's founding year — each example is individually numbered and becomes a progressively more individual object as its bronze case develops its unique, irreversible patina.
