WHAT WE LOVE:
The Tudor Black Bay Heritage Ref. 79220N is the very first iteration of the Black Bay series, released in 2012. What sets this example apart is the presence of the Tudor Rose logo on the dial — a nod to the brand’s vintage identity before the adoption of the modern shield. The gilt dial, rivet-style bracelet, and lack of crown guards create a strong vintage aesthetic, clearly inspired by the Submariners of the 1950s and ’60s. For collectors, this is the most desirable version of the Black Bay — the one that started it all.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
Powered by the ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, this early Black Bay delivers proven reliability and ease of servicing. It features a 41mm stainless steel case with polished and satin finishes, a domed sapphire crystal, and a unidirectional black aluminium bezel insert. Water-resistant to 200 metres, it combines dive-ready functionality with strong visual heritage.
