WHAT WE LOVE:
The first-generation Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, introduced in 2005, established a template for serious dive watch design that remains influential today — and it did so with the orange bezel variant in a way that no other configuration quite matched. The orange aluminium bezel insert against the black dial and the stainless steel case creates the most visually dynamic combination in the Planet Ocean's range: warm against cool, bold against brushed, the three orange Arabic numerals at 12, 9, and 6 o'clock echoing the bezel's colour across the dial surface. When Omega revisited this configuration with the current ceramic generation in 2019, they were explicitly referencing the original orange aluminium as the emotional anchor of the collection.
This 2006 Planet Ocean carries the 42mm case — with all the tactile satisfaction of the construction at the time: the smooth rotating bezel action on aluminium insert, the helium escape valve at 10 o'clock, the screw-down crown with its triangular crown guards, and the broad polished lugs that give the watch its confident, purposeful silhouette. This example comes with its original box and papers and has been fully serviced in 2026 — confirming it is running correctly and water-resistance is maintained — making it an exceptionally well-documented first-generation Planet Ocean in orange.
