WHAT WE LOVE:
The Bulova Chronograph C Ref. 96K101 — affectionately nicknamed the “Stars and Stripes” — is a bold and faithful reissue of one of Bulova’s most distinctive vintage chronographs from the 1970s. With its vibrant red, white, and blue color scheme and unapologetically retro styling, it captures the spirit of an era defined by racing, experimentation, and standout design.
The polished stainless steel case measures 46mm, yet wears surprisingly well thanks to its short lugs and tonneau profile. The star of the show is the dial: deep navy blue with red and white sub-dials, applied indices, and a matching red central chronograph seconds hand. The layout features a 3-6-9 register format, with a date window at 4:30, and a crisp tachymeter scale framing the dial. The domed sapphire crystal adds vintage-style distortion, while a signed screw-down caseback secures the build.
WHAT'S INSIDE:
The watch is powered by Bulova’s NP20 High Performance Quartz Chronograph movement, offering traditional three-register chronograph functionality with date. While not mechanical, this movement delivers high accuracy, instant reset, and a smooth pusher feel. The watch includes both a stainless steel bracelet and a blue leather strap with red stitching — allowing for dress-up or dress-down flexibility.
