WHAT WE LOVE:
This is the rare "Error Dial" Marathon SAR-D, the direct predecessor to the legendary GSAR. It's dubbed an "error dial" because of a quirky and fascinating oversight—while the dial features the radioactive tritium symbol, the hands are fitted with Maraglo instead, lacking any actual tritium. This mismatch occurred during the transitional phase when Marathon began introducing the GSAR dial but continued using the older SAR hands, creating a short-lived and collectible anomaly. Some estimate that fewer than 200 of these made it out into the world.
With its ETA movement, distinctive history, magnified date (courtesy of the cyclops), and that charmingly old-school date wheel, it really captures the best of what the GSAR lineage has to offer.
