WHAT WE LOVE:

Step into horological history with the Seiko "Aussie Pogue," a rare and iconic automatic chronograph from 1974. This model, celebrated for its historical significance, is part of the pioneering Seiko 6139 series—one of the earliest automatic chronographs to hit the market, alongside Zenith’s El Primero and Heuer’s Calibre 11.

The "Aussie Pogue" is distinguished by its exclusive Australian distribution and its unique black tachymeter chapter ring, setting it apart from other 6139 models and making it one of the rarest in the range. Mounted on its original Seiko Stelux stainless-steel "presidential" bracelet, this timepiece combines historical charm with practical functionality.

Notably, the "Aussie Pogue" features distinctive elements such as an automatic chronograph, with all models showcasing English and Roman day wheels. Although it is rarer than other Pogues, it remains a cherished collectible among enthusiasts.

The Seiko 6139 also gained fame for its association with U.S. astronaut Colonel William Pogue, who wore it during the 1973 Skylab 4 mission. Despite not having NASA approval, Pogue trusted his Seiko for crucial timing tasks, underscoring its reliability and precision.

Released in 1969, the Seiko 6139 was among the first automatic chronographs, making its debut alongside other industry giants. Seiko’s innovation extended beyond this model, with the release of the world's first quartz watch, the Astron, later that same year, further cementing its place in watchmaking history.
