WHAT WE LOVE:
The Seiko 6138-8030, affectionately known as the “John Player,” is a standout from Seiko’s 1970s chronograph lineup. Produced between 1976 and 1977, this model captures the essence of motorsport-inspired design from that era.
Encased in a 40mm stainless steel case with a cushion-shaped profile, the watch offers a balanced presence on the wrist. The matte black dial is complemented by gold-toned sub-dials and a matching tachymeter scale, enhancing its sporty aesthetic. The dial features a 30-minute counter at 6 o'clock and a 12-hour counter at 12 o'clock, along with a day-date display at 3 o'clock. The watch is originally fitted with Seiko’s Z077 bracelet, known for its comfort and distinctive design.
WHAT’S INSIDE:
Powering the timepiece is Seiko’s in-house Caliber 6138B, a robust automatic chronograph movement with 21 jewels, operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour.
