WHAT WE LOVE:
The Zenith Chronomaster El Primero “Full Open” Ref. 03.2153.400/78.C813 offers one of the most visually engaging interpretations of Zenith’s legendary chronograph. Rather than hiding the movement beneath the dial, this reference reveals the inner workings of the watch through a partially skeletonised display, allowing the wearer to observe the famous El Primero chronograph mechanism in motion.
The tri-colour chronograph registers — grey, anthracite, and blue — remain a signature of the Chronomaster line and stand out beautifully against the openworked dial. Paired with a silver sunburst chapter ring, the watch balances technical intrigue with traditional chronograph design. The 38mm stainless steel case gives the watch a confident presence, while the leather strap keeps the overall look refined and wearable. It is a piece that celebrates mechanical watchmaking in a way that few chronographs do — putting the movement itself at centre stage.
WHAT'S INSIDE:
Powering the watch is the Zenith El Primero Calibre 400, one of the most celebrated automatic chronograph movements ever produced. Beating at a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour, the movement allows the chronograph to measure time down to 1/10th of a second.
The calibre features a column-wheel chronograph architecture, automatic winding, and approximately 50 hours of power reserve, delivering both technical sophistication and reliable everyday performance. Visible through the open dial and exhibition caseback, the El Primero remains one of the defining achievements of modern Swiss chronograph engineering.
