WHAT WE LOVE:
The early 2000s Omega Seamaster 36mm automatic chronometer is one of the most quietly satisfying watches Omega produced in the pre-Co-Axial era — a compact, well-finished, COSC-certified automatic sport-dress watch that sits comfortably in the category between the 300M Professional and the Aqua Terra. The blue wave dial design — a raised wavy pattern that covers the entire dial surface — was Omega's signature dial language for the Seamaster collection through the late 1990s and early 2000s, created by embossing the dial substrate before lacquering to create a three-dimensional wave texture that catches light directionally.
At 36mm with a fixed polished steel bezel and the broad, flowing lug shape of this generation, the Seamaster 36 wears close and elegantly. The skeleton hands — with their hollowed centres and Super-LumiNova fill — and the applied luminous markers on the blue wave ground create excellent legibility, and the date at 3 o'clock is integrated neatly. This is the Seamaster in a size and configuration that has aged better than many of its contemporaries, and a 2001 example with its original box and papers is correctly documented for collectors. The steel bracelet with its brushed and polished links and push-button fold-over clasp suits the watch's sport-dress character.
