WHAT WE LOVE:
The Omega Seamaster Mariner III is an object of pure 1980s design confidence, a watch that makes no attempt to reference any earlier Omega tradition and commits entirely to the aesthetic priorities of its decade. The rectangular TV-screen case with its gold-plated ball feet at each corner, the integration of the brushed-and-polished two-tone bracelet directly into the case architecture, and the bold gold accent lines framing the black dial insert are all design decisions that could only have been made in the mid-1980s, when integrated-bracelet luxury sport watches were the category that every watch house wanted to participate in. The Mariner III in steel and gold is the more precious of the two material options, the gold-tone elements giving the black dial's applied baton markers and the case's accent details their intended warmth.
