Omega - 1943 Military Royal 2292

WHAT WE LOVE:

The Omega 2292 is one of the rarest and most specifically documented Omega military references — produced in a single run of approximately 3,000 units between March and June 1943, exclusively for issue to the British Royal Air Force and Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. Where Omega supplied over 110,000 watches to British forces across various references during the Second World War, the 2292 represents a fraction of that total: a short production window, a specific case construction, and a documented issue purpose that makes provenance tracing easier than most wartime pieces. The case of the 2292 is constructed from Duralumin — an aluminium alloy that was specified for the Mk 10 Ministry of Defence pilot's watch standard because its lighter weight was a practical advantage for aircrew. As the Air Ministry issued the watches themselves, some were not engraved like this example here.
