The IWC Pilot's Watch Mark series traces its lineage to the Mark XI — the watch IWC developed for the British Royal Air Force in 1948, which remained in service until 1981 and established the template for what a professional aviation watch should be: matte black dial, large Arabic numerals, high legibility in all light conditions, soft-iron inner cage for magnetic protection, and a robust case built for instrument use rather than display. The Mark XX, introduced in 2023, is the first Mark-series watch in the series' history to carry a fully in-house IWC movement — ending decades of Sellita-based architecture.

The Calibre 32111 is the Mark XX's defining advancement. Its 120-hour power reserve — five days — means the watch keeps running through a full working week and a weekend without touching it, eliminating the Monday morning reset ritual that shorter reserve movements require. The bi-directional pawl winding system builds that reserve efficiently from wrist motion. The dial receives a redesigned date window with a contrasting white disc against the matte black ground — a legibility improvement over the Mark XVIII's more integrated date that pilots who read instruments for a living will immediately appreciate. The EasX-CHANGE tool-free strap system allows bracelet-to-strap exchange without tools in seconds. At 40mm × 10.8mm it disappears under a shirt cuff with ease.

WHAT'S INSIDE:

The IW328201 is powered by IWC Manufacture Calibre 32111 — a 21-jewel in-house automatic movement with bi-directional pawl winding, 28,800 vibrations per hour, and 120-hour power reserve. The soft-iron inner case provides anti-magnetic protection; the domed sapphire crystal is secured against displacement by low air pressure.
