The F.Bachschmid Steelmaster was a delightful watch to learn more about. While the strap has been replaced this example presents in virtually new old stock condition, with intact case back sticker.
F.Bachschmid was established in Switzerland in 1874 and changed hands periodically over most of the next century before being purchased by Ulysses Nardin in 1966. The Steelmaster dates to that era of F.Bachschmid history and Ulysses Nardin took the company in a more nautical direction in terms of design and capability. Utilising an ETA 2789 rather than an inhouse UN Calibre, you can imagine that they were trying differentiate the product line in a similar fashion to what other Swiss watch brands have done in the past.
All in all, an attractive watch with case dimensions that make it a remarkably modern feeling watch to wear. The F.Bachschmid Steelmaster is a vintage watch with a curious history that you won’t come across with any sort of regularity.
