Skeleton Dial or 'Openwork' watches have existed almost as long as watches, with the first examples dating back to the 18th Century. They existed to demonstrate a watchmaker's abilities and reveal the delicate infrastructure of their movements. Fast forward 200 years and skeletonized watches had become a way to simply convey the mechanical 'supremacy' of ones watch, pioneered by brands like Patek Philippe and Richard Mille. These days skeleton dial watches are available across nearly every price point.
