WHAT WE LOVE:
The Kurono Tokyo Toki Anniversary Edition is a celebration of refinement, restraint, and storytelling. Released in 2021 to commemorate the brand’s second anniversary, it features a uniquely warm salmon-coloured dial, inspired by the plumage of the Japanese crested ibis — known as Toki in Japanese. The hue is not simply salmon; it shifts between warm copper and dusty pink depending on the light, creating a soft, atmospheric glow that embodies Kurono’s blend of classic design and cultural nuance.
The 37mm polished stainless steel case is elegantly proportioned, faithful to the brand’s signature silhouette, and designed by renowned independent watchmaker Hajime Asaoka. The Art Deco-style hour markers, dauphine hands, and the concentric guilloché-style rings on the dial elevate the visual depth while retaining the minimalist charm.
With only 500 pieces produced, the Toki represents the refined spirit of Japanese watchmaking, where emotion, design, and execution quietly align.
WHAT'S INSIDE:
The watch is powered by the Miyota 90S5, a Japanese automatic movement with a solid track record of reliability and smoothness. It features hand-winding, hacking seconds, and a beat rate of 28,800 vph. In typical Kurono fashion, the caseback is closed — a deliberate choice that places emphasis on the beauty of the dial and the designer’s vision, rather than the mechanics within.
