In 2006 Daniel Craig appeared in Casino Royale and he quickly demonstrated he wasn’t going to be your grandmother's James Bond. In the opening scene, he bloodily dispatches a goon inside a dirty bathroom which provides a great contrast to the very cool and coiffed Pierce Brosnan version of the character.

James Bond's watch in this new entry had to match the British utility of the character wearing it and so the Omega Seamaster Professional was replaced in this instance by the Omega Planet Ocean, at a far larger 45.5mm and worn on a rubber strap rather than a bracelet, it does not pretend to be a desk diver but rather a watch to be worn in the field.
